Turkish Governance Ratings & Reports
Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) works with the Capital Markets Board (CMB) of Turkey to help public companies in Turkey strengthen governance and compensation practices to benefit the country's market system and align more closely with international standards. To help drive the adoption of good corporate governance practices in Turkey, the CMB has defined corporate governance principles covering four main areas:
- Shareholder Rights
- Public Disclosure & Transparency
- Stakeholders
- Board Structure & Activities
ISS has been a registered corporate governance ratings provider in Turkey since 2004 and drew on the relationship with CMB and deep expertise in global corporate governance ratings to develop a detailed ratings system customized to governance in Turkey. To produce the report, corporate services analyzes corporate governance practices using publicly available information in annual reports, AGM agenda, AGM minutes and articles of association. Conference call interviews with board members or senior management may also be conducted as necessary.
The Turkish Rating Report provides an independent assessment of your company's corporate governance standards and measures adherence to the principles defined by the CMB. In addition, the Rating Report can help you:
- Demonstrate due diligence and care
- Illustrate how your company can get in line with best practices
- Explain where your company's governance structures and practices may diverge from nationally or internationally-defined best practices
- Prioritize internal risk management activities
- Prepare for engagement on governance issues with investors and stakeholders
